School Magazine Planning Sheet
What is the name of your magazine? What are the connotations of the magazine?
'Your Voice' or 'Voice' because the theme of my school magazine is all about clubs such as the school council, and getting your voice heard while in sixth form.
What will be your front cover story and how will you visualise this?
My front cover story will be a person standing behind a podium, as if she was about to say a speech, to let her voice be heard.
Who is the target audience?
My target audience is students in sixth form, between the ages of 16-18.
What sort of shot will it be? Close up, mid shot, low or high angle?
I am going to use a mid shot, however you will only be able to see the person on the cover from the shoulders up, as the podium will be covering her.
What mise en scene will be required for the photography?
Initially i wanted a dark background with lighting on the person on the cover, as i thought this setting would create a dramatic effect. However, i have changed my mind and i now want a light background, bright lighting for an uplifting mood. A student will be standing behind a podium, as if she was about to say a speech.
What would be your headline and how will it match the main image?
"Do you have anything to say?" "Voice your opinion in school" or "Let your opinions be heard"
These headlines all link to the main image, because the image is of a person thats about to say a speech behind a podium, a person who is about it let their opinion be heard.
What colour scheme do you want and why?
I want quite formal and professional colours such as: black, red and white. Or navy blue, white and red.

Student magazine cover 2
The magazine cover is effective because:
- The title 'Student' is in big bold colours and it really stands out, making it easier for the reader to spot it.
- The background is quite plain and the colour is mild, this this helps the title and the girl on the cover of the magazine to stand out.
- The colours on the cover of the magazine contrast very well and they compliment eachother, this makes it look more pleasing and attractive to the eye.
- The two parts in yellow stand out the most, as yellow is very bright compared to the other colours on the magazine cover.
- The magazine cover also contains quite a lot of detail, such as; the price (£2.50, which is a decent price), the bar code and a link to a website.
- The person on the cover is looking staright at the camera, thus engaging with the reader.
- However, the picture of the model on the cover is not of the best quality, this makes the magazine look less professional, and hiints that its not a real magazine cover.
- Also, i think the mild colour in the background makes the magazine seem a bit dull. A darker colour would have made it more dramatic. And a brighter colour would have made it more cheerfull and pleasent to the eye.
